Chromatic Blaze - GMTK GameJam 2021 entry
My entry for GMTK GameJam 2021
Controls:
Use WASD or IJKL for movement
Space bar to shoot (some browsers will scroll when using the space bar, if you go fullscreen it stops scrolling)
Use your mouse and click on the buttons to tell the crew help you out, or restore the city when too many aliens attack.
Gameplay:
You need to defend the city from an alien invasion, the city will slowly deteriorate. You can send your chromatic blaze guitars to help the city out and restore it, but you will lose it's ability.
Things I still wanted to add / change:
The meta game is really rough, and the game needs more player feedback and clarity in the purpose. Unfortunately I ran out of time, the pixel art was made 30 minutes before the deadline. I prioritized not having a pixel art stick figure as player and an orbs as enemies over balancing the gameplay and visual feedback more. I'm sorry.
Expect more games to come, without time limits this time ;)
Tools used:
Vanilla JavaScript for core game code (don't judge ;P).
THREE.js + GSAP graphics and animation.
Photoshop for pixel art.
Magicavoxel for 3D models.
All content made by me.
Built in 48 hours (did sleep 8 hours a day, I'm not used to all-nighters anymore haha).

NICE ! and art is really cool !
Also a huge fan of the visuals and the core mechanic. Looks like you have to play in fullscreen to make the spacebar work without scrolling the screen, just so other players know.
Yeah I noticed the spacebar issue after I submitted. So can't change it unfortunately. It works fine in Chrome, but issues in other browsers. My first game on itch.io this way, good to know for the next time. Thanks!
Really like the visuals (that rotating city!)
The visuals are incredible! Excellent work!
